“Liaison” means “coordination, bridging, connecting” in French.
Liaison is a type of connected pronunciation in French in which a word-final consonant letter, silent when the word is read alone, is pronounced when immediately followed by a vowel. It is often translated as “connected sound,” but caution is needed because that term can also denote other sound phenomena.
“リエゾン”とはフランス語で「連携・橋渡し・つなぐ」を意味する言葉です。
リエゾンとは、フランス語における連声の一種で、語を単独では読む場合には発音されない語末の子音字が、直後に母音が続く場合に発音される現象を言う。リエゾンはしばしば連音とも訳されるが、「連音」という用語はリエゾン以外の音現象をも指すことがありうるので注意を要する。
