Yin-yang (Japanese readings: inyo, onyo, onmyo; pinyin: yīnyáng; English: yin - yang) is a philosophy originating in Chinese thought that classifies all phenomena and everything in the universe into 2 categories, yang (Japanese reading: yo) and yin (Japanese reading: in), from various perspectives. Yang and yin are 2 forms of qi with opposing attributes, and changes such as the generation and disappearance of all things are held to arise through these 2 forms of qi.
