Seshat, whose name has various spellings, is the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, and writing in ancient Egyptian mythology. Her name means “the woman who writes for others”; she was considered a scribe and record keeper and was said to have invented writing. She was also recognized as the goddess of accounting, architecture, astronomy, astrology, mathematics, and surveying.
