Pines’ demon refers to a composite particle formed by electrons coupling in a solid that is massless, electrically neutral, and does not interact with light. It is thought that it may play important roles in phenomena such as phase transitions in mixed-valence semimetals, the optical properties of metal nanoparticles, and high-temperature superconductivity in metal hydrides, and it is reportedly expected to be widespread in other multiband metals as well. The research paper was published online in Nature on 2023/8/9. https://www.newsweekjapan.jp/akane/2023/08/post-63.php
