Cubism refers to an artistic movement arising in the 20th century or a school of painters using its style. Against painting's emphasis on realistic depiction, it transformed painting into abstract expression by geometrically altering and composing motifs. Conventional painting depicted realistically through pictorial structures based on single-point perspective.
