“Art brut” is French for “raw art.” Interpretations vary, but it is often explained as “art by people without formal art education” or “expression uninfluenced by existing artistic currents.” In Japan today, however, art brut is promoted as “expression by people with disabilities,” which is only one part of it.
「アール・ブリュット」とは「生の芸術」を意味するフランス語である。 その解釈は人によって様々だが、「正規の美術教育を受けていない人による芸術」「既存の美術潮流に影響されない表現」などと説明されることが多い。 しかし、現在の日本ではその中の一部分でしかない「障害者の表現」としてアール・ブリュットが推進されている。
