Queen consort of French king Louis 16. Daughter of Austria's Maria Theresa. Her court extravagance provoked public resentment, and she was executed in 1793 during the French Revolution. The most famous line attributed to Marie Antoinette, queen of Louis XVI, who perished on the guillotine during the French Revolution, is “If they have no bread, let them eat cake.”
