There is a temple of Apollo, and the oracle (divine prophecy) conveyed through its priestess was revered as truth by all Greeks (Hellenes), believed to determine people's fates and the destinies of poleis. Important polis decisions, such as whether to colonize or go to war, thus came to be made through this oracle.
