“A poem is a form of language, so objectivity is possible, but poésie has no form, so it can only depend on individual subjectivity.” By poem, Tanikawa means what is ordinarily called poetry, already expressed in linguistic forms such as spoken Japanese, spoken English, or written characters. Language of course also includes sign language. #word
