The Old Occitan verb trobar means "to find" or "to compose (verses)".
Trobar clus is a complex and obscure style of writing that was used by some Provençal poets in the 12th century. It was a closed form of poetry that was only truly appreciated by a select few. The style was characterized by intricate rhymes, complex metrics, and words chosen more for their sound than their meaning.
