Homeostasis and transistasis mean “constancy” and “changeability,” respectively, and are concepts describing the states of living organisms. Homeostasis means maintaining bodily conditions such as temperature, blood sugar, and immunity at constant levels regardless of environmental changes. Also called biological constancy, it is maintained through cooperation among 3 functions: nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. Meanwhile, transistasis is a coined term for a behavioral principle seeking to break the status quo and generate new developments. It is positioned as the opposite of homeostasis.
