The Doors of Guf is a term in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, meaning a gateway to where souls of life are stored. The chamber of guf (Japanese reading: Gafu no heya; chamber of guf) is a room inhabited by souls in God's dwelling in Hebrew legend. Guf means body in Hebrew. The Doors of Guf are thought to be fissures opening in the palms of progenitors (Adam or Lilith). Opening the Doors of Guf means bringing about the beginning and end of the world. In the film version, Third Impact occurs at the same time as the door of Guf opens in the palm of the gigantic Lilith. Human souls are guided back through these Doors of Guf of Lilith into the Chamber of Guf = the Black Moon.
