“Open Water—Water (*) Opens” is a project seeking to revitalize Tokyo as a 21st-century water city by reaffirming the role rich waterways have played in Tokyo's history and uncovering water's possibilities through art's creativity. Edo/Tokyo, once called a water city, was a city crossed in every direction by waterways and broadly open toward the water. When land routes took over the central role in transport and logistics during the period of rapid economic growth, water receded behind the city and grew distant from our lives. Yet Tokyo remains a city rich in water. We want to look once again at Tokyo's rivers and sea and create opportunities to encounter the richness of water. “Open Water—Water (*) Opens” aims to create opportunities through art for people to engage with Tokyo's water. https://openwater-mizuhiraku.com
