Chirality (handedness) is the “left-right asymmetric” property whereby an object or molecule cannot be superimposed on its mirror image. It refers to structures that are mirror images but not identical, like right and left hands or right- and left-handed screws, and is important in chemistry, physics, and biology.
カイラリティ(Chirality、掌性)とは、物体や分子がその鏡像(鏡に映った姿)と重ね合わせることができない「左右非対称」の性質です。右手と左手、右ネジと左ネジの関係のように、鏡像関係にあるが同一ではない構造を持つことを指し、化学、物理学、生物学で重要な概念です。
