A work that realizes unprecedented visual expression by treating the different concepts of space, color, and time symmetrically within a higher-dimensional space where they are unified. If each pixel of video data is regarded as a point with spatial coordinates given by 6 numerical values—X and Y for space, R, G, B for color components, and T for time corresponding to the frame number—all pixels in the video can be considered a set of points floating in 6-dimensional space. Applying an arbitrary rotation transforms color gradations, curves, and their changes over time into one another, merging them together, while relationships between points are not destroyed by rotation; at a rotation angle of 0 degrees, it returns to the original video. This work is the latest in the project (as of 2018/2) inspired by the word “dimension,” encountered in conversations with researchers in string theory, particle theory, and theoretical physics during a residency in 2016 at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU), within the University of Tokyo Institutes for Advanced Study. It uses video obtained through interval shooting around the ALMA telescope in Chile’s Atacama Desert. https://j-mediaarts-festival.bunka.go.jp/award/single/datum/index.html
