Interested in human landscape perception and narrative creation, and the relationship between walking and imagination. Walking and interacting with people in various places, she explores stories hidden in the land and expresses them through video, photography, writing, and drawing. Alongside making works and writing, she regards “walking,” making paths in the world, as a form of expression and organizes walking and mapmaking events. After studying classical music and Japanese literature in Moscow, she moved to Japan in 2012. She completed the doctoral program in Intermedia Art at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. PhD in Fine Arts. Her sole-authored book (a collection of works) is “When an Apple Falls from a Tree, a Sound Is Born” (torch press, 2016). Recent major solo exhibitions include “Days With the Wind | Walking the Island on Windy Days,” Takamatsu Artist-in-Residence 2020 (2021, Megijima, Kagawa), “The Road Goes Along the Peninsula” (2018, Shiretoko Peninsula, Hokkaido), and “On Teto’s Trail,” Gallery Trax (2017, Yamanashi); group exhibitions include “FACES,” SCAI PIRAMIDE (2021, Tokyo), “Land and Beyond | Tracing the Voice of the Earth,” Pola Museum Annex (2021, Tokyo), and “KENPOKU ART” (2016).
