https://www.leandropisano.it/en/project/interferenze-liminaria-festival-2022-substantiae-motus Invisible forces and processes producing influence and transformation within human and nonhuman communities actively shape the ecosystems in which we live. Sound, signals, vibrations, and bodily fluctuations reveal existential interrelationships between matter and immateriality—that is, the corporeal and incorporeal—and represent knots within the endless movement through which matter and energy constitute the world through bodies and objects. They also emphasize the complex processes of acquisition, industrialization, and change our environment undergoes, defining more complex relations between nature and the artificial. Borrowing Marco Armiero's words, this can be called the “Wasteocene”: the age of waste. Contemporary criticism emphasizes the existence of energetic fluxes capable of reconstructing artistic processes in all their forms (Douglas Kahn). These themes form the basis of this year's edition of Liminaria/Interferenze. Through critical and performative spaces, the festival aims to reconsider the possibilities of art itself and explore the infinite phenomena of energy, viewed as a complex of invisible forces shaping every transformation of matter. Liminaria / Interzona will continue building this discussion around rural, remote, and liminal environments, central pillars for creating futuristic imaginings, and potential scenarios for energetic policies toward collectives. Local communities, experts, artists, and curators gather opinions on these themes together, attempting hybrid co-curation with the region, those living there, and those passing through.
