December 13, 2025 / 16:00-22:00
Spiral Hall, Tokyo

About Sound Atlas:

Sound Atlas is an original CCBT project that aims to draw new “maps of sound” by reconsidering and reconstructing the invisible world of sound across multiple dimensions.
Launched to mark CCBT's relocation and renewal, the first edition, 「極地からの音」 (“Sounds from the Polar Regions”), was CCBT's first music event, co-curated with musician, visual artist, and DJ 小松千倫. Inspired by infrasound—frequencies below the range of human hearing that arise from phenomena such as glacier collapses and volcanic eruptions and travel long distances through the atmosphere—the program explores how sound resonates, leaks, and travels across boundaries through live music, performances, DJ sets, installations, and talks.

Sound Map by Keigo Yoshida:

Keigo Yoshida created Sound Map, a visualization of the venue's sound using an array of 22 channels of directional microphones suspended from the ceiling. The captured sound data is overlaid as a color map on a floor plan of Spiral Hall, visually presenting the distribution of sound within the space and its changes over time.
By showing the spread of sound across the entire venue as a single map—something difficult to grasp through hearing alone—the work gives visual form to the project's inquiry into how sound resonates, leaks, and travels, allowing visitors to experience it through sight as well.
