“Not requiring servers” does not mean that Lambda itself “does not use servers.” Actual cloud services, including Lambda, run on servers, so taking the phrase literally feels somewhat odd. Expressed from another perspective, serverless architecture could therefore be defined as “architecture that requires no servers and uses no services charged according to time (discussed below).”
