A pentatonic scale is a scale consisting of 5 notes. A major pentatonic scale consists of the 5 notes remaining after removing the 4th and 7th notes of a major scale. A minor pentatonic scale consists of the 5 notes remaining after removing the 2nd and 6th notes of a minor scale.
