Mostly beta-band brainwaves, filtered with a 30Hz LPF. mul16 fast-forwards the time axis to 1/16, producing 16 times the frequency. pitchshift raises frequency using MSP pitch shifting. It feels like beating (undulation), but contains MSP's patchwork noise. For a precise artistic result, I recommend pitch-shifting based on raw. TIPS on recording brainwaves, for your reference! Part 1 Unfortunately, VIE’s sensor cannot avoid contamination by neck muscle electrical activity, so the raw waveform needs L-R or R-L processing. It is the simple karaoke (vocal removal) method popular around 20 years ago. It takes some effort, but I will describe how using “Audacity (Japanese version)” as an example. *SS1–SS6 below are filenames of attached screenshots. Please consult them alongside the text. (1) SS1 shows the recorded brainwave Wave file loaded; because it is raw, it contains electromyographic noise. (2) Reserve space using “Tracks” → “Add New” → “Stereo Track,” then select the entire current track and copy/paste it (see SS2; this protects the original file). (3) Select the copied-and-pasted track (2ch), choose “Tracks” → “Mix” → “Stereo to Mono,” and split it into 2 mono tracks. (4) Select “either” of the 2 split tracks and choose “Effect” → “Invert” (positive and negative are exchanged). *That is SS3; please compare the top and bottom (LR). (5) “Select both” of the 2 split tracks, inverted and uninverted, and choose “Tracks” → “Mix” → “Mix and Render to New Track.” (6) As in SS4, subtraction removes large noise, but whisker-like noise remains. (7) Select this difference track and apply, for example, a steep low-pass filter like SS5 through “Effect” → “Classic Filters.” (8) EEG components then emerge as in SS6, so afterward process this freely! Part 2 This may be a Windows-only phenomenon, but Bluetooth “audio” automatically tries to connect to “VIECHILL(Data),” causing VIE Streamer and Bluetooth audio to compete for access rights (with VIE Streamer losing), and it sometimes failed to work properly. In that case, the conflict continues if left as is, so you need to select “Remove VIECHILL(Data) device” in the “Bluetooth & devices” settings. Part 3 When brainwaves must be recorded quickly for a performance or similar occasion, wiping the ear canals and neck (the opposite side where the electrodes touch) with commercially available “contact lens storage solution” is effective. After the performance, wipe the 4 electrodes clean with alcohol or similar material. Mold can grow if they are left untreated. *Between us, once in a real emergency I moistened it with my own natural tears and it worked (wry laugh). (Edited) #media
