The Jomon transgression geologically refers to the Holocene or postglacial transgression: sea-level rise accompanying warming beginning after the coldest period of the last glacial age. In Japan, it was near the beginning of the Jomon period. Sea level rose by about 120 meters. The rise continued until its peak, approximately 6,500–6,000 years ago.
