An interval narrower than a semitone. Infinitely many exist theoretically, but according to the degree of division of a whole tone, they are called third-tones, quarter-tones, sixth-tones, eighth-tones, sixteenth-tones, and so on. They are often found in Asian music and European folk music more strongly influenced by the East (Romani and Eastern European folk music).
