The Kaiser criterion sets the number of factors to the number of correlation-matrix eigenvalues of 1 or greater. Factor analysis uses the correlation matrix of observed variables, and values called eigenvalues are calculated for it. A correlation matrix is “a matrix compiling correlation coefficients between multiple variables,” widely used in statistics. #analysis
