The 3 principal elements of architecture, “utility, strength, and beauty,” proposed by ancient Roman architect Vitruvius (“Ten Books on Architecture”), can be expressed today as... utility (functionality, ease of use), strength (safety, durability), and beauty (beauty, carefully considered design). “Vitruvian Man” visualizes “universal human proportions.” A nude adult man is depicted so that, by changing the positions of his arms and legs, he fits both a square and a circle. One theory proposes that it is da Vinci himself in his 30s, but there is no strong evidence. #word
