Refers to the “Recommendations Guiding Physicians in Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects,” adopted at the World Medical Association General Assembly in 1964. Biomedical research ultimately cannot contribute to actual medicine without trials involving humans. Current clinical trials take the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki as their ethical foundation.
