A point at which phase cannot be defined is called a phase singularity. An optical vortex has a helical phase distribution around its center, making the center a phase singularity. When an electron can be regarded as rotating around an atomic nucleus or similar object, the angular momentum (moment of momentum) arising from that rotation is called orbital angular momentum. #physics
