Orbital resonance (Japanese pronunciation: kido kyomei; orbital resonance1) is, in celestial mechanics, a change in the orbits of 2 bodies orbiting another body as a result of their mutual gravitational influence1. It includes mean-motion resonance2, which acts over short timescales comparable to the orbital period, and secular resonance3, which acts over long timescales of 104 - 106 years. #physics
