William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet, playwright, and thinker. He also wrote prose and criticism, worked as a journalist and occultist, and developed his own ideas. Opening new ground in modern poetry, he is considered one of the most important poets in 20th-century English literature and modern poetry, and his reputation as the “greatest poet” in the 20th-century English-speaking world is also established.
