Paul Celan (Japanese transliterations: Tseran or Tseraan; 1920/11/23 - 1970/4/20) was a German Jewish poet from Ukraine.
His real name was Paul Antschel/Paul Ancel. Paul Celan is an anagram intended to conceal his Jewish birth name. A representative postwar German-language poet, considered one of the leading poets of the 20th century.
