A staging method called projection mapping, which changes the surface textures of three-dimensional forms such as architecture by projecting imagery onto them, can create visual spaces with an unusual sense of presence and reality. Ordinarily, supports such as buildings and the imagery have a fixed relationship: the shape and position of the objects are determined in advance, and images produced to fit them are superimposed. In this work, however, not only the camera but also the miniatures onto which images are projected move rather than remaining fixed, and the CG generated changes accordingly. The miniatures are designed to move together through a single power source, and some can be positioned by the audience. The camera automatically creates signals for compositing as it films, making it possible to project imagery without fixing the projection targets.
