The propensity theory of probability is an interpretation in which probability is considered the physical propensity, tendency, or inclination of a particular type of situation to produce a certain type of outcome or the long-run relative frequency of such outcomes. Propensities are not relative frequencies, but are regarded as causes of observed stable relative frequencies.
