“Postmodern,” simply put, means “after the modern.” It expresses the contemporary situation in which individuals live according to their own tastes and shared values are disappearing. From the middle to late 20th century, an intellectual movement aiming to break away from modernity flourished in fields including literature, art, and architecture.
