Archimedes' principle is the physical law that “an object in a fluid receives an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by that object.” Although expressing the principle producing buoyancy, it also forms a basis for volume measurement because the immersed object's volume equals that of the displaced fluid. #physics
