Autopoiesis is a word coined in the 1970s by Chilean neurophysiologist Humberto Maturana by combining Greek “auto,” meaning self, and “poiesis,” meaning creation or production. In Japanese it is translated as “self-production,” “self-creation,” or “self-manufacture.” #word
