Hybrid Art is art created by fusing multiple different forms, media, and techniques, including painting, sculpture, digital technology, biology, and science. It refers to an expressive method combining tradition and innovation to create new visual values and experiences. Representative examples of fusion include the following styles. Digital × analog: Combining hand-drawn analog textures with digital technology such as Photoshop or AI-generated images. Science × art: “Bioart,” which applies biotechnology and robotics to art. Historical styles: For example, art combining Japanese and Western approaches by mixing the techniques of Meiji-era Japanese painting and Western painting. Public cultural institutions and galleries in Japan also hold projects focusing on this method. For example, Fuchu Art Museum has held a “Hybrid Art Lab” as a media-art experimental workshop, making this a field attracting attention.
