As the first exhibition marking the establishment of Artlab, which aimed to create and experiment with new artistic realms through the fusion of artists' imagination and engineers' technology, it took the project name “ARTLAB” as its title. It involved collaboration with 3 groups of emerging contemporary artists in their 20s, using digital technology for the first time yet promising rich developments of ideas. Based on Artlab engineers' digital image-processing technology, it centered on experiments in digital images using original programming. Among the expressive methods chosen by the artists, ideas of “interactive (two-way)” elements, not yet codified at the time, appeared throughout.
