Anacrusis [anacrusis], English. Meaning of “upbeat.” Originally it simply referred to unaccented notes (or note groups/rhythmic groups) before a strong beat (accent). Generally, an anacrusis is a kind of preparation or state of tension, like inhaling before singing or lifting a foot before taking a step. “Anacrusis” means “preparation” (rising tension), and “crusicus” means “the point of arrival” (the moment of reaching the peak). #sound
