“The strength of weak ties” is a hypothesis on social networks proposed by American sociologist Mark Granovetter. According to Granovetter, novel, valuable information is more likely to come from people with weak social connections (weak ties), such as acquaintances of acquaintances or casual acquaintances, than from people with strong social connections (strong ties), such as one’s family, close friends, or workplace colleagues. This is called the theory of “the strength of weak ties.” https://jinjibu.jp/keyword/detl/599/ #physics
