Has a Japanese wife. 2009-Now Sony CSL Researcher. Alexis André explores unprecedented creative activities by applying the latest digital media. He regards the creative process itself as art and bases his work on the idea that creators focus on interaction with this process. His overarching theme is defining next-generation entertainment relevant to digital natives as well. His research areas include computer-generated/assisted art, procedural design, computer graphics, HCI (human-computer interaction), computer vision, game psychology, and game design. His work has been exhibited at the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM) and the international conference SIGGRAPH, and he has collaborated with numerous artists, from Open Reel Ensemble to Aomori University’s men’s rhythmic gymnastics team produced by Issey Miyake. Major works include collaborations with ISSEY MIYAKE and “EōN,” an app for generative music and images created in collaboration with electronic musician Jean-Michel Jarre. He has presented works in various settings, including interactive installation exhibitions in Tokyo and art events around the world.
